Why should you see each other before the wedding?

Some statistics: (Ok, so I estimated these numbers - but that's why I'm a photographer and not a statistician)

90% of the couples I meet with say they refuse to see each other before the ceremony.

99% end up changing their minds, and doing it.

100% of my couples who see each before the wedding (including those who refused to in the beginning but changed their minds) say they are so glad they did it this way and wouldn't do it any other way!

Why? Because it just makes sense! And here's why....

-One of the biggest turn offs to seeing each other before the wedding is losing that moment when the groom sees his bride for the first time. What you don't realize is that the nerves of the couple are so extreme, it's easy to miss that moment for each of them during the ceremony. Plus, you are distracted by the hundreds of people who came to see you get married. You are also sharing that intimate moment of seeing your bride/groom on the day of the wedding with hundreds of guests. The moment is much sweeter when it's just the two of you, alone, when the nerves are gone and the guests are absent.

-You get to spend your wedding DAY with each other, not just the hour for the ceremony and the couple hours for the reception (which you will barely see each other at - trust me! You invited guests for a reason!) You will have many memories of the hours you spent together before the craziness of the wedding began!

-Your make-up, hair, dress, tux, everything, is in much better shape because it's all freshly done.

-You won't keep your guests waiting as you get pictures done.

-Your nerves will be much more calmed during the day and for the ceremony (You may even remember your vows at the alter!) :)

-You have more time for more fun, creative shots as well as more locations. Your pictures will not be rushed and you will have many more pictures.

I completely respect all decisions to see or not see each other before the wedding. It is your day and should be done the way you want to do it! I just wanted to dispel the myths that it's bad luck to see each other before the wedding. It can be so much sweeter!

If any of my former couples are reading this - please feel free to write a comment and give your feedback and personal opinion towards this! Thank you!

Traveling

Since posting about my trip to San Francisco, people have been saying to me, "I didn't know you traveled!" Of course I travel! I love to travel! I will go anywhere you want to send me! Eric and Jill so graciously gave me a trip to San Francisco to photograph their engagement session, and I'll be traveling to Pennsylvania next year to shoot their wedding. I love photographing in new places! Other trips I have scheduled in the next year include Virginia Beach, Chattanooga, and Indiana. I'm very excited about each and every place I'll be traveling to!

So how do you get me to that city that is so special to you and your fiance? All you need is to make sure I'm available (and trust me, I'll make myself available!), and cover my travel expenses. Then I am so there.....

Julie & Jeremy's slideshow

I decided to do something a little different, and actually post the slideshow on my blog! You can also see the Rumpke's slideshow by going to www.lcrobbins.com/slideshows/rumpkewedding. Enjoy!

Julie and Jeremy

Julie and Jeremy's wedding was last Saturday - 06.07.08. You may recognize Julie from the past 2 weddings I photographed - she was a bridesmaid. I had so much fun with this couple, and we've seen each other so much at the last few weddings, it feels weird that their wedding is already over and I'm not going to see them every weekend! :) The colors of the wedding were beautiful - I'm a big fan of blue and brown (You should see my house)!! And Julie looked stunning next to her very tall groom - and of course, Jeremy looked great as well! We lucked out that there was no rain during all the picture taking, especially considering the track record for her family. (The umbrellas I used in the photographs were bought for her brother's wedding a year ago - when it DID rain on the day of the wedding!)

The wedding was held at St. Peter in Chains in Hamilton and the reception was at Lake Lyndsay. It was a great day, and I have many favorites to prove it! Their slideshow is still in the works, but I will post it as soon as it's finished! Enjoy!

Congratulations, Julie and Jeremy! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

Without further ado.....San Francisco!!

I have been very excited to get these up online! I had an amazing time touring the city with Eric and Jill! It was my first time to San Francisco, and I fell in love! It is a beautiful and very unique city with so much to offer. I could shoot there all day every day! Eric and Jill were fantastic during the shoot. It was the first time we had met, but I felt as though I've known them for a very long time. Both are wonderful and I'm very excited to shoot their wedding next June. Eric drove us around the city to our different locations, and having only been to San Francisco a couple times, did a great job of getting us around - he managed to only anger 1 other driver - amazing!

Here are a few of my favorites! (Sorry there are so many - it was hard to narrow them down to even this many!) You can see their slideshow by going here.

Thank you, Eric and Jill, for the amazing trip to San Fran! I'm looking forward to your wedding next year!
